What a free-weights loading photo set is

A container loading photo set is a dated visual record of how cartons of plates, bars, dumbbells, and bells sat in the box before the seal. It is evidence for stuffing quality, not a substitute for carton specs. Buyers require it because iron moves, and a claim without a door shot becomes a story contest.

When the PO is a barbell and bumper plate set mixed with other free weights, the file must show bumpers low or blocked, bars captured, and a bumper plate weight set identifiable by marks. A pretty warehouse selfie is not that file.

Why “we packed it well” fails at claims

Without a door view you cannot see if heavy plates sat on dumbbells. Without a mark close-up you cannot tie a crushed carton to a packing-list line. Without a side aisle you cannot see whether bars were used as a lateral brace or left to punch a wall. The factory and the forwarder will both say the other party stuffed the box.

VGM is a weight declaration. It does not prove stuffing pattern. Do not treat a VGM email as a photo set.

Shots that belong in the file

Ask for original files with timestamps, not only WhatsApp compressions. A bumper plate weight set should appear as marked cartons, not as an unlabeled mixed pile.

A sequence buyers can copy

1. Approve a packing-list draft before stuffing day.
2. Require the shot list above in the same email as the stuffing appointment.
3. Check that heavy bumpers and iron plates are not visibly stacked on crushable dumbbell cartons unless the list planned that and the photo shows protection.
4. Match container number and seal to the booking. If photos arrive after sail with no seal shot, say so in writing.
5. Keep the set with the PI. Receiving uses the same door logic: photograph before unloading if you will claim.

Worked FCL: a barbell and bumper plate set, hex cartons, and two bar boxes. Door mid-load should show bumper and iron on the floor layer. Side aisle should show bar cartons blocked, not free to slide into bumper corners. Mark close-ups should let you read the bumper plate weight set ratings. If the door-full shot shows a void above the bumpers with no strap, ask for a restuff before seal.

If photos arrive as a collage with no container number, reject the set and ask for originals. A claim file needs one container identity. Mixed screenshots from two stuffing days belong in two folders or they will contaminate the story.

Photos are not a packing spec

A complete photo set of a bad stuffing pattern still documents a bad pattern. Write carton inner pack, pallet yes/no, and mix rules first. Photos confirm those rules were followed. They do not replace OEM logo files, weight tolerance, or weld inspection.

Is a video better than stills?

A slow door-to-aisle video helps, but stills of marks and the seal are easier to file. Ask for both if the mix is complex.

Factory says photos are extra cost.

Then the stuffing record is optional and claims will be harder. Decide before PO. Yunlingyu treats the shot list as part of export packing when you ask for it on the RFQ.

LCL at a CFS.

You may not get a full container door. Ask for carton photos at handover and CFS photos if the operator provides them. Write the limit so you do not expect an FCL door shot.

Can we skip photos on a repeat PO?

You can, at your risk. Mix changes and new stuffing crews recreate first-shipment mistakes.
